Get Involved in our Community

Sisterhood

The women of B’nai Israel come together in friendship to provide activities that benefit the congregation and the community as well as enhance individual growth in a Jewish atmosphere. Contact Michelle Rosen for more information

Choir

Makhela is a group of committed adult performers who have a calling for spiritual music. Our choir prepares a wide range of music, accompanied or a cappella, including classical, contemporary, or jazz styles. Within Makhela choir members do not need to read music but they need to commit to learning their individual parts via technical tools.

Adult Education

B’nai Israel embraces lifelong learning and adult education.  Rabbi Eric and others teach classes open to the community.  In particular we invite you to consider attending.

Chesed v'Shalom

The purpose of Chesed v’Shalom is to provide support to fellow congregants during life’s ups and downs. Chesed v’Shalom promotes a culture of compassion, builds community, and strengthens connections amongst the B’nai Israel family. Sheri Kipperman, Sherrie Bitterman and Evan Cooper co-chair this incredibly important committee.

Kulanu

https://bnaiisraelsouthbury.shulcloud.com/kulanu.html#We encourage other members of the congregation to participate in our efforts to educate themselves and others on our mission to fight antisemitism.  Please reach out to Rabbi Polokoff if you would like to join us or simply to learn more or sit in on one of our upcoming meetings

Israel Advocacy Committee

To implement our mission, we collaborate with the Board of Education of BIRS (B'nai Israel Religious School) and the Jewish Federation.  The IAC has close ties with AIPAC (American Israeli Public Affairs Committee),  ADL (Anti-Defamation League) and with PRIMER (Promoting Responsibility in Middle East Reporting)
